This curriculum provides Native literacy coordinators and tutors with 30 culturally appropriate lesson plans for their work with Native learners. Empowering the Spirit contains three distinct sets of lesson plans for teachers who instruct at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Students will appreciate the eclectic nature of the lesson plans, which include the following topics: "elders are our teachers," "sweetgrass," and "traditional poetry." This updated edition contains additional resources and activities.
