Visual Literacy: Maps Photographs Editorial Cartoons

The Visual Literacy series of 3 books provides explanations and practice in understanding a wide variety of graphic elements that students will encounter on high school equivalency tests as well as in their daily lives. This book includes interpreting physical, descriptive and travel maps; how to analyze photographs and prints in terms of what the photographer wants the viewer to see; and how to interpret cartoonists' opinions in editorial cartoons. The elements in and the purpose of each type of visual is explained and then followed by multiple choice questions that focus on interpreting the visual presented. The final unit includes a series of multiple choice questions based on all the types of tables and graphs covered in the book. An answer key is provided at the back of the book.
